On Friday, October 17, we had the privilege of attending the first annual “Celebrating Young and Strong” event hosted by Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The evening honored the strong and courageous women who are battling or have battled breast cancer at a young age while raising funds and awareness for the disease.
The event was hosted at the Boston Harbor Hotel and members of our Charity by Design, Digital Strategy, and Retail Operations teams were in attendance. The evening featured moving speakers such as Kelley Tuthill, an award-winning reporter and breast cancer survivor, Geralyn Lucas, an award-winning TV producer, author, lecturer, and breast cancer survivor, and Alex Spence, husband of the late Bridget Mooney Spence, one of the women the event was in honor of. There was also a silent auction, delicious hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, and live music.
Kelley Tuthill, an award-winning reporter at WCVB-TV and breast cancer survivor, presented greeted the crowd and presented some of the evening’s awards.
We were honored to receive the 2014 Bridget Slotemaker Award for our support of the Young and Strong Program through our Charity by Design “Young and Strong” Charm Bangle in which 20% of all sales are donated to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Also, we were acknowledged for our sponsorship of “An Evening for Bridget,” which has raised over $500,000 in honor of Bridget Slotemaker since 2009.
We are humbled by this recognition and look forward to continuing our support of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Young and Strong Program!
